Facilities Renovations and Measure I

Facilities have been the key roadblock to innovative and expanded course offerings in our District. Evergreen Valley College is a new and incomplete campus and San Jose City College is the second oldest campus in California. We have made strong inroads into improving the physical capacity and environment on our campuses with a new Student Center at EVC being built and planning for a new parking lot at SJCC. On the November ballot, passage of Measure I is cruical for our district to meet the needs of our students.

Maximum access by all students to a quality education

We are doing more to make our programs accessible to our population by getting grants to provide tutoring, mentoring, and other services to low-income, re-entry, and minority students. In place are programs such as Adelante, AFFIRM, ENLACE, that assist African-American and Chicano/Latino students. Our new "Civic Center" Accelerated Degree Program allows city and county employees to complete an Associate Degree in two years while working full-time.
