Candidate for Governing Board Member; Alum Rock Union School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Things are finally changing for the better in Alum Rock. We need to focus more on our kids, and less on politically-minded adults
We are finally changing things for the better in Alum Rock school district.

We have smaller classes in first and second grades, with kindergarten in progress. Our kids are now receiving more time and attention from their teachers. We have more computers in our classrooms and more books in our school libraries. And WE WILL GET MORE TEXTBOOKS to assist our students in their studies and in their homework.

We have another "California Distinguished School" at Dorsa Elementary, of which we are all very proud. We know that with continued parent support and dedicated school staff, more schools in our district can also become "distinguished schools."

Yes, we still have other district challenges. By providing stability and support for our kids, resources for our teachers and training for our parents, we'll continue making progress. We should focus more on the needs of our kids and teachers in the classrooms, instead of the constant complaining of politically-minded adults.

I am a parent (daughter, 8 yrs; son, 11 yrs), graduate of Alum Rock School District, and a 46-year resident of East San Jose. I am committed to improving our schools and working hard for ALL our kids.

Vote ESAU HERRERA for Alum Rock School Board.
