Work to continue NASA's presence at Moffett Federal Airfield and pursue annexation of the property.
NASA's continued presence is vital to the economy of Silicon Valley. Air traffic at Moffett Federal Airfield is a major concern of the residents of Mountain View. To address both issues, in the early 19901s, as a Councilmember, I worked diligently and personally lobbied our Congress people to make NASA the steward of the old Naval Station lands.

When NASA suggested they needed to introduce air cargo at Moffett Federal Airfield to balance their budget, I applied for a seat on the Citizens Advisory Committee. I was subsequently selected Vice Chair of the committee. We worked for seven months and came up with 10 suggestions for more compatible and acceptable uses of the airfield. The Councils of Mountain View and Sunnyvale, as well as NASA, have embraced our recommended uses.

I want to continue our relationship and dialogue with NASA. It is time to pursue annexation of this land to Mountain View and Sunnyvale. Should the government ever need to vacate this property, we must be positioned to protect our interests in the land and housing.
