I believe that the Santa Maria Public Airport needs to provide better commercial air service for our people.

Jobs, facilities and general aviation are being addressed. The new Industrial Park is being promoted and the Free-Trade Zone is progressing, both important in creating new jobs for Santa Maria. In support of general aviation, new hangars are being built. The general manager, George Perry, and his staff, are doing a fine job managing and maintaining the airport property. There is a new crash truck in our fire house.

But let's take care of all our people! Where is our airline service? In the last three years, we have dropped from three scheduled airlines servicing Santa Maria to only one - with one destination. It is very expensive to connect with a different airline at Los Angeles. Unless the routing is a continuation with United Airlines, most of us will have to drive to Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo to get reasonable travel cost.

As a member of the Board of Directors, I will devote my time and efforts to the improvement of scheduled airline service at the Santa Maria Public Airport.
