Continued Improvement in Test Scores

By John W. Franklin

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Carpinteria Unified School District; Trustee Area 2

Continue improving trend of our students test scores and improve parental involvement.
Contrary to an opponent's assertion, the recently released STAR Test shows improvement for the fourth straight year. Virtually all grade levels now exceed State and National averages. We still have much room to improve and will. That same opponent criticizes the District's use of portables but doing so enabled us to maximize the State's Class Size Reduction program which certainly contributed to our improved test scores. We will continue to reduce class size through all grade levels and can further improve our student's performance by improving parental involvement K-12. Getting and keeping parents involved in their children's academic career strengthens performance, improves communication and best of all, strengthens those families.
