My name is Richard Nathanson. Although a newcomer to local politics, I have been a member of the Folsom community since 1989 when I assumed command of the Sacramento Naval Reserve Center. For over 20 years I served in the Naval Service before retiring in Folsom. I work for the Sacramento County Office of Education.

My goal as a member of the School Board is simple, to serve in the best interests of the children. I see the three significant issues facing our school system are:

1. Improving the quality and leadership in our schools to develop young men and women into productive citizens of our community.
2. Efficient use of district funds while insuring a challenging standard of achievement is maintained by the children.
3. Integrating state of the art technology into the learning process.

As your representative and to achieve success on these issues, I will:

1. Ensure high standards in selection, assignment, and retention of professionals in all levels of administration and education.
2. Question every dollar spent by the district and ensure that it has a direct and qualitative measure of effectiveness in the classroom.
3. Invest in the future by bringing technology and trained teachers into each classroom.

I believe in public service, working hard, and doing my best. Allow me the opportunity to serve you and the community and make a difference.
