The only standard for all our students is EXCELLENCE in learning!

By Donald C. "Don" Wickham

Candidate for Governing Board Member; San Jacinto Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
The School Board, Administration and all teachers and staff must be committed to the highest standards for our children's education.
We cannot expect our children to be committed to the highest acheivements and striving for their education if the school board, the administrators, teachers and staff have not already become so fully committed. We must believe in their ability to meet our expectations before we can expect them to so believe.

Any lesser standard shortchanges our students. Thus we must challenge each and every student to learn to the best of his or her abliity, and to let them know that we don't expect anything less.

Our children need to be advised at a very early age that the greatest is expected of them; that they should and need to go to college or a good vocational school after high school. Field trips to colleges and/or vocational schools should be made available for our high school juniors. College representatives need to come to our schools starting with the third grade talking about college. Our parents need to be advised at school conferences that their children will have the opportunities for college and vocational education and they need to discuss that with their children.

Books and adults reading books to our children beginning at the earliest ages need to be made available so that our children acquire the skills and zest for reading, and of learning.
