City government should be the voice of the people.

By Shenna J. Moqeet

Candidate for City Council Member; City of Calimesa

This information is provided by the candidate
Some of our present council members ran on the platform that they would do for the people of Calimesa what the people wanted. How many have stuck to their words? Do YOU feel that your concerns, needs and desires are being met?
I know I voted for certain candidates because of what they promised to do for me, and for our city. I am sorely disappointed with the outcome of many items that the council has dealt with...how about you? I have always believed that an elected official is supposed to represent the people who elected him/her. Why is it that so many promise to, but when they get in, suddenly their ideas and views are better than the people being served. Time and again, citizens of Calimesa have asked that city council to listen to what they have to say and vote accordingly. After invoking the 3 minute speech limit, certain council members vote for what THEY believe is right for the people, not what the people want. I am not a politician, nor do I want to be. I simply want to be YOUR VOICE, even if I do not always agree with it. As an elected official I WILL be your voice, not my own. After all, it is ALL of us together that make this town what it is; all of us matter, and all of us count! It is time all of us are LISTENED to. Thank you.
