Full Biography for David L. "Dave" Long

County Superintendent of Schools

Dave grew up in Iowa and obtained his Ph.D.at Iowa State University. He lives in Canyon Lake with his wife, Joanne, and their daughter, Angelica.

Joanne is a principal in Corona. Angelica attends an elementary school in Lake Elsinore.

Dave is a career educator with 37 years of experience. He has been a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent. He was also a successful track coach.

Dave has been Superintendent in Lake Elsinore since 1992. He previously was Assistant Superintendent for the Banning Unified School District.

He has been very active in the community. He is the founder and director of Community Action Planning, a program that brings leaders in government, law enforcement, clergy and education together with parents and students to work on community projects that serve youth.

Dave has been a countywide United Way Chair, and was given the Governor's State Award for Community/School Leadership.

He was recognized in 1995 as the "Superintendent of the Year" by the Association of California School Administrators (Region 12) and recently was recognized as "Outstanding School Administrator" for the state by the California Educational Volunteer Partnership.

Dave Long is recognized as a proven, successful educator throughout the state of California.
