As the mother of two teenagers, I am concerned that the Hemet Unified School District ranks below state average in student performance. As a local businesswoman, I am disappointed in the lack of qualifications of many of our graduates.

With the rapid population growth in our area and current test scores being less than ideal, it is time we take an aggressive stance towards improving our children's education for the future of our community. Strong schools increase the economic potential and attractiveness of our community. Quality schools strengthen our employment pool with capable graduates.

My goals as a Trustee for the Hemet Unified School District include:

  • Student safety above all else. I support a zero tolerance for violence on campus.

  • Academic excellence for ALL students. Students performing below standards must be tutored and mentored to overcome academic deficiencies.

  • School-to-Career programs integrated into the curriculum. Students must see how class instruction applies to real world situations, regardless whether they later pursue higher education or vocational-technical interests.

  • Community partnerships to support this strive for academic excellence. Our schools and children can certainly benefit from interaction with parents, grandparents, police, businesspeople and community volunteers supporting, tutoring, and mentoring students to success.

The public must demand performance from its elected officials. My education, business experience, and community leadership has been well documented in my work as an elected official of Valley-Wide Recreation & Park District, as well as numerous other community organizations. I am known for "doing my homework" - listening to the public, researching issues, and making common sense decisions.

I am ready to serve you on the Hemet School Board, and to do so I need your vote. Please vote for me this election.

Thank you.
