Public Safety - Traffic, Police & Fire

By S. Scott "Scott" Webster

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Tustin

This information is provided by the candidate
Population growth, concern with protecting our citizens and police officers, the need for a city wide fire authority solution.
Tustin is the hub of Orange County. We are physically located at the center of OC. Our streets and freeways are being pushed to their limits and beyond. We need a sensible, long term approach to widening certain major streets such as Red Hill, Newport Ave, First and Fourth streets.

Our Police force is top notch. However, our growing southern regions (the Base Re-use plan) and Southwest Tustin are under supported. My plan is in coordination with the City of Santa Ana to form a coorporative Policing approach to removing gang and crime activities in our South and Southwestern portions of Tustin. We need to fix the problem not put a band aid on the symptom.

Fire is undersupported and underappreciated in Tustin. We are growing by leaps and bounds yet our Fire Department is shrinking with the sudden cancellation of our Paid Call Firefighter Program. We need unique and inspirational proposals to protect and safeguard citizens and businesses!!

I will lead the charge on these and other initiatives within the City of Tustin.
