CANDIDATE STATEMENT in the Orange County Voter Information Guide

By Donald P. "Don" Wagner

Candidate for Governing Board Member; South Orange County Community College District; Trustee Area 2

This information is provided by the candidate
Oppose tax & tuition increases. Cut bureaucracy. Student success #1 priority. Increase job training, certificate, transfer programs.
The South Orange County Community College District established a nationwide reputation for educational excellence that's now under attack.

Problems plague our tax-supported Saddleback and Irvine Valley Colleges; administrative mismanagement; indebtedness; news reports of outsiders and extremists who vow to "shut the colleges down," and deplete financial resources with frivolous lawsuits.

Strong leadership and reforms are necessary to stop financial mismanagement and narrow political agendas from destroying our colleges.

I'm the only fiscal conservative candidate who lives, works and is raising three children in South Orange County. I'm working on a sub-committee in opposition to an El Toro airport. The other candidates live in Santa Ana.

I will work to:

  • Oppose tax and tuition increases.
  • Cut bureaucracy.
  • Student success #1 priority.
  • Increase job training, certificate, transfer programs.

A graduate of the University of California system, I advise businesses and corporations. I served as president of the American Lung Association of Orange County, founding president of the O.C. Federalist Society, and as a Judge Pro Tem in Superior Court resolving disputes.

Nominated 1966 Irvine "Citizen of the Year", I am an experienced business and community leader who is supported by many school and community leaders. Vote to restore accountability and high standards of excellence.
