Smyth Opposes the Board's Decision to Move the Headquarters Off Campus

By J. Carolan Smyth, III

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Rancho Santiago Community College District; Trustee Area 3

This information is provided by the candidate
I oppose the Board's decision to move the District Office from the Santa Ana campus to a off-campus former bank building.
I believe that Trustees as elected members of the community should be close to the students and be responsive to them. The move off campus is a further indication of their isolation, not to mention the expenses involved. The Trustees have not only purchased a building but also expensive leather furniture and lap top computers. This is an irresponsible use of public funds. The Trustees' District Headquarters is a Taj Mahal, but the students and community need accessibility to their Trustees and not a monument to the Board.
