Foothill Transportation Corridor (Toll Road)

By Susan Elizabeth Ritschel

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of San Clemente

This information is provided by the candidate
San Clemente must be strongly represented on the TCA to ensure that the Toll Road is designed to benefit, and not harm, San Clemente residents.
Given the continued population growth projected for all of South Orange County and the surrounding region, I believe the Foothill Corridor South will be deemed necessary, and if designed and located appropriately, will minimize the potential impact on our residents, and will benefit San Clemente by providing an alternative route in and out of town.

I support the CP alignment (Camp Pendleton alignment), which would skirt the eastern boundary of San Clemente, and am adamantly opposed to the BX alignment (Pico alignment) which would literally and tragically bisect our community once again - we do not need another freeway running through our town! It is imperative that we have a strong voice on the Transportation Corridor Agency (TCA) to fight for what is best for San Clemente, and not settle for what others outside our community believe is the easiest or least costly solution.
