Candidate's Statement

Sherri M. Butterfield Independent Businesswoman/Council Member

Thank you for electing me to the Mission Viejo City Council. I have worked hard during the past four years and have kept the promises I made to you in 1994. For example, I

- Maintained a balanced municipal budget and a healthy reserve
- Increased city revenues by attracting new retail businesses to Mission Viejo
- Built a new city library that serves more than 50,000 borrowers each month
- Wrote the term limits ordinance approved by 83 percent of Mission Viejo voters
- Synchronized traffic lights and improved intersections to smooth traffic flow
- Added patrol units to prevent crime
- Eased parking problems at local schools and parks
- Upgraded city entry signs and relandscaped city slopes
- Obtained additional open space and park funding from developers
- Improved the condition and increased the availability of baseball and soccer fields
- Funded a crossing guard program to ensure the safety of our children
- Supported grant funding for senior facilities and programs.

In addition, I have consistently opposed County efforts to convert El Toro to a commercial airport.

As your Council Member, I will continue to serve your interests. I will make prudent use of city revenues to provide essential services and further strengthen our community.

For proven leadership, vote for Sherri Butterfield.
