Position Statement

By Ellen Ballard

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Fullerton School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Ellen states her commitment to high academic standards for students, to accountability for students, teachers and parents, and to meeting the needs of the children in Fullerton.
Having been actively involved in the Fullerton School District both as a parent and a teacher, I know its strengths and also where improvements need to be made. I am well aware of the academic needs of Fullerton's student population and share the high academic expectations of any parent. Standards of the past must be updated and improved for the future. Shared responsibility and accountability should be expected from trustees, administrators, teachers, students, and parents. Working together, I believe Fullerton schools can be an even better place for students to get the excellent education they need in order to compete in a rapidly changing world. A highly regarded public school system benefits the entire community.

Fullerton has been my home for 33 years. During this time, I have been a member of organizations concerned with children and community issues. I am committed to being proactive, recognizing potential problems and seeking successful and practical solutions. Experience, a balanced perspective and enthusiasm for education are what I will provide as a member of the Fullerton School District Board of Trustees.
