Key Issues of Our Community. . .

By Shelby Holmes

Candidate for Member of City Council; City of Bakersfield; Ward 7

This information is provided by the candidate
These might not be the hottest debated issues to some people, but to me, and the working families, they are very important.
Make schools a safer learning environment for our children. Initiate and enforce mandatory school uniforms to help ensure safety and instill confidence in the students. Also I would support smaller class sizes, and more Police protection on all school campuses - elementary through college.

Make sure that the people are the ones making the decisions that will affect their future. By putting proposals on the ballot, this will ensure that the majority of the people will be heard instead of the small percentage that just had more free time to spend complaining.

Help support/create Job Opportunities for our children. Erect needed youth activity centers for them to participate in productive, well balanced activities. Prevent them from becoming part of the juvenile crime statistics.
