This information is provided by the candidate

I and Marion, my wife of thirty-six years came to Arcata in 1988. We married and settled in California in 1961. My hometown is Detroit, which I left in 1957 and enlisted in the US Navy. While providing for and helping to raise our family of four children, I received degrees from two California universities. I've had the pleasure of having been a member of many organizations over the years and often served as an officer and on their committees. We enjoy tending our flower beds and occasionally I fine some time to take a ride on my Harley Davidson motorcycle. Our place of worship is at the Arcata United Methodist Church. We have two dogs that enjoy hiking in the Arcata forest and long the nearby beachs.

My university degrees are in agricultural economics and business administration. My business career spans finance, business, sales, residential construction and subdivision development, agriculture, and economic research. From 1989 to 1994, I held public office as a trustee representing this community on the Humboldt County Board of Education. During that time I was a delegate and Vice President of State organizations of public school trustees. I have been somewhat active as a volunteer of the Humboldt Mediation Service since 1989. For about five years I served Humboldt and Del Norte counties as a Federal employee, managing a local office lending to agricultural producers and residential home buyers. I have had the experience of residing in several major California communities and am witness to problems concerning change and growth. I am now mainly self employed as a small business owner.
