Ballot Statement - It's Our City too!

By John Cumming

Candidate for Council Member; City of Eureka; Ward 5

This information is provided by the candidate
I have been a homeowner in the City of Eureka for the past 10 years, and I have devoted my career to representing working people and poor people in Humboldt County. Neither I nor any family member is in a position to profit personally from city business or policies.

The most important business of the Eureka City Council is to make sure our citizens are provided with basis services -- public safety, utilities, support for our youth, recreation, and sensible planning. I also believe city government should operate in the open, and not like a private club for leaders and their friends.

Beyond providing basic services and making sure citizens feel secure about the continuation of those services, I would like to see the City of Eureka fully committed to port development, to upgrading our appearance along the 101 corridor, and to legitimately addressing the needs of our children and the disadvantaged people living among us.

It's our city too, and I would like to be a council member for the rest of us! Thank you for your support.
