Political Philosophy for Janet Napolitano

Candidate for
State Attorney General

This information is provided by the candidate

Janet Napolitano firmly believes that "political philosophy" should be irrelevant to the office of Attorney General in the partisan sense of that phrase. The Attorney General's duty is to evaluate and perform according to the law and the facts, not politics. One significant responsibility of the Attorney General's office is to advise the state agencies and represent them in the enforcement of their statutes, rules and orders. Secondly, the Attorney General and the state grand jury have jurisdiction over white collar crime, organized crime, public corruption and crimes occurring in more than one county. And, finally, she sees the Attorney General as the "people's lawyer." In that role, she intends to prosecute telemarketing scam artists, protect consumer rights and look out for crime victims, including our children.

In other words, this job requires an experienced professional, not a politician.
