I am a moderate Democrat who believes in financial responsibility, the freedom to make personal choices, and that government should interfere in our lives only to protect the rights and well-being of citizens who cannot do so on their own. I am in tune with our community and state, serving on many task forces, boards, and other volunteer entities. I oppose new taxes as well as further tax cuts, since after 6 years of relentless tax cutting, mostly to benefit big business, the latter can only be a zero-sum game. At this point, any tax cut reappears as an increased "service fee" (have you taken out a building permit lately?), or as a reduction in service (try to renew your driver's license!).
I have not accepted, and will not accept financial contributions from Political Action Committees (PAC's), and have even returned the check from the National Association of Social Workers, of whose endorsement I am very proud.
