Tom Santos has been a state employee for twelve years. He is presently a Management Auditor for the State of California. Tom spent eight years on the staff of the Board of Equalization: five years with the Property Taxes Department as a Property Tax Auditor-Appraiser, one year with the Sales and Use Taxes Department and two years with the Special Taxes Department acting in both capacity as Tax Auditor. Prior to his employment with the state, he worked with the Internal Revenue Service as an Internal Revenue Agent and in this connection, he has been a certified Enrolled Agent since 1990.

Tom attended Sacramento City College and Sacramento State College during the early 70's before he enlisted in the Air Force. While in the service, Tom earned his first bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Santa Clara University. After his four-year enlistment with the military, Tom relocated to Las Vegas, where he earned his second bachelor's degree (Accounting) from the University of Nevada,Las Vegas. While earning his accounting degree, Tom worked in the Nevada gaming industry as a gaming supervisor.

Before Sacramento, which became his family's home thirty years ago, they lived in Guam and Japan. Born in the Philippines, Tom put into advantage the many cultures he had seen in his young age. Tom is married and has raised five children.
