  • Balanced Budget Amendment

Deficit spending is the equivalent of the government stealing
from children. My two small children, as well as yours, have
inherited trillions of dollars in debt that they are obligated to
pay. They do not have the right to vote yet they are stuck
with the fallout from years with the Democrats in charge of
the budgets in Congress, spending beyond their income (your
taxes). To get all their "feel good" programs through
congress, as well as pork for their constituencies, they chose
to borrow the money (i.e. steal from children) instead of
passing new taxes or tightening their belts. After the 1994
elections, an amendment to the Constitution was brought
before Congress. It passed the House with the required 2/3's
majority but was stopped in the Senate by one vote, Sen.
Barbara Boxer's. After the 1996 elections, the same thing
happened. Once again our Senator from California stopped
the amendment from passing and going on to the states for
ratification. If the amendment had passed, Congress would
be held to living within their means, like the rest of us with
households to run. I would be honored to vote yes the next
time the amendment comes up for a vote.
  • Crime
I am vehemently oppsed to crime, and fully support the
Three Strikes law. As your senator, I will work hard on
extraditing criminals and bringing them to justice in the United
States. Crime impacts everyone; victims should have rights,
too.

  • Education

I support the idea of a school voucher system. Healthy
competition between schools for students should improve the
education for all. I believe that children who do not speak
English should spend 1 year or less in a bilingual program and
then be placed back into the general student population.
Growing up in Orange County, I have seen first hand how
this can work. I support the idea of cutting bureaucracy and
spending more money on teaching in the public schools. On
the federal level, where I will be working for you as your
Senator, I feel the Department of Education should be given
one purpose only; to teach immigrants and their children how
to read, write, and speak English. Every tax dollar spent in
this department should do just that, with no more than 5% of
the money going to administration. I strongly support the
student loan program. It is the best way to provide students
with limited economic means access to higher education. It
sure helped me.
