A brief overview of Mark Isler's purpose, background and program in running for State Superintendent of Schools.
My goal is to lead California in taking the necessary steps to reverse a long decline in the quality and performance of our educational system.

I was a teacher for more than fourteen years and I hold a masters Degree in Education from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

I have recently been CEO of my own successful food distribution company. I presently host a cable-TV show called "Saving the American Dream," that is seen throughout the L.A. area. Guests have included: Governor George Deukmejian, Attorney General Dan Lungren, Former Senatorial Candidate Bruce Herschensohn, talk show hosts: Dennis Prager, Larry Elder and Michael Reagan.

I firmly believe we can get more education for the tax dollars we spend: taxpayers are tired of paying more and more for less and less education.

The key educational reform is school choice. We should support parents in finding the best education for their children-traditional public schools, charter schools, private schools, or home schooling.

We need to end bilingual education. It has been a complete failure.

We must end experiments, theories and fads that have replaced sound education. Theses programs include new math, whole language, and Goals 2000. We need to end the federal governments role in education.

We must get back to the basics in a safe disciplined learning environment.

We need vast improvements in our educational system and we should begin by raising our sights and our expectations. Our nation, which is the envy of the world in so many ways, can certainly provide young people with a first-rate education if we put our minds to it.
