My California Futures agenda will protect taxpayers’ dollars, invest in California, finance schools and infrastructure, and give families new opportunities to save and invest. As Treasurer, I will help build the strongest possible state for all Californians and for my children’s generation. The following four goals will be the centerpiece of my California Futures agenda, which I will detail in this campaign and which will be the hallmark of my first term:

  • I will protect the taxpayers’ money - investing prudently, managing efficiently, cutting costs, and raising the State’s credit rating. I will make the Treasurer’s office a model of efficiency and service to the taxpayers.

  • I will increase the level of state fund investment in the California economy, doing well by our investments and doing well by our state. My goals will be to get strong returns, create long term and sustainable growth, enrich our communities, and create jobs and economic opportunity.

  • I will cost-effectively finance the public fabric -- schools, transportation, clean water, parks - that California needs to succeed in the 21st century.

  • I will broaden the opportunities and choices which California families have to invest and save for their family’s security, their retirement, and their children’s education.

I will bring to the Treasurer’s office my experience in the private sector as a successful businessman and financial manager, as well as my many accomplishments in the public and civic realm of which I am very proud.

I have a deep belief in the value of politics, public service, and community involvement. I feel privileged that I have had a chance to participate in our community and our state and to make a difference, both in the public and the private sectors.
