A Brief Candidate Statement By

Warren Slocum, Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, San Mateo County

The issues of my candidacy are basic to good government…experience, honesty and courage.

During my term as your Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder I have been accountable, accessible and action oriented. I have made decisions with the public's interest in mind and strived to deliver quality services with a customer friendly, common sense approach.

I am well prepared to meet the challenges of increasing taxpayer desires, changing citizen needs and the demands of our community's journey into the 21st Century.

Since you elected me in 1994, I have: worked hard to expand constituent services while reducing costs by over a million dollars; provided tax relief by getting a new statute enacted into law; implemented a Taxpayer Bill of Rights; guaranteed integrity by maintaining strict controls against voter fraud; and paid attention by listening to residents.

The San Mateo County Economic Development Association has recognized me and my office as an example of "responsiveness, efficiency and action by an elected official and government office which should be the model for all public agencies."

Despite my record of achievement, however, there is much to do.

I am honored to work for you and I respectfully ask for your vote.

Experience, honesty and courage: there are no substitutes.
