Why do we need a new County Controller?

By Tom Huening

Candidate for County Controller

This information is provided by the candidate
A well-managed Controller's office is important to conserve and protect our taxpayers dollars.
County government is not truly accountable to you. Taxpayers and policy makers do not get user-friendly financial information from the office of County Controller. The performance audit so common in private industry, is virtually nonexistent in county government. Controller tax apportionment mistakes have been costly to our schools. Over the years, Grand Juries and the State Controller have criticized the County Controller'' performance for misallocation of $1.8 million of school funds and failure to ".. comply with California statutes."

The 1990 Grand Jury found "..significant deficiencies in the operation and financial management of the office of County Controller .. ". Top leadership is still lacking.

A well-managed Controller's office is important to conserve and protect our taxpayer dollars. I would appreciate your vote of confidence on June 2nd.
