I, Ray Moreno, moved to District 3 in 1960. I attended Washington Elementary School, Woodrow Wilson Junior High, and San Jose High School. I married the girl next door and raised two daughters in the Guadalupe Washington neighborhood south of downtown.

since 1990 I ahve given thousands of volunteer hours to improve our neighborhooks and served on elenen different board and committees. I ahve taken a prventive approach to lowereing crimne by supporting recreational and educational opportunities for young people. I serve on the school district's Bond Oversight Committee and the School Site Selection Team. As president of the Guadalupe Washington Neighborhood Association I was successful in lobbing the city for a new youth center and library.

As your councilmember, I would contiue working to improve all of the neighborhoods in District 3. I would address the basic needs of working families such as affordable housing, transportation, childcare, homework and tutoring centers, access of education, recreational programs for youth, and bring economic development to our neighborhoods.

I Ray Moreno, am a community activist, not a professional politician. As a councilmember, my only obligation would be to the residents of District3, not special interest groups.
