Mel Anderson is Deputy District Attorney for Santa Clara County.  For the last several years he has been assigned to the Three Strikes/Career criminal prosecution unit.

Mel was born and raised in San Jose.  He attended Willow Glen Elementary School and Willow Glen High School before graduating from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in economics.  Mel's career as management representative in labor negotiations spanned 15 years.

Mel attended Golden Gate University Law School under academic scholarship. He was elected Associate Editor of the Law Review and externed for California Supreme Court Justice John Arguelles before graduating cum laude in 1988.

Mel immediately began working for the District Attorney's office.  He has served on several trial team units including, Burglary, Robbery and Assault. He was the first felony trial deputy in Santa Clara County assigned full time to prosecute Domestic Violence cases.  Mel has been among the top 3 attorneys in number of trials prosecuted each year, and last year shared honors for prosecuting most trials in the District Attorney's office.

Mel lives in the Willow Glen area of San Jose.  Mel's parents, two grown children, and two grandchildren all live in San Jose.
