Orange County Issues

By David A. "Dave" Sullivan

Candidate for County Supervisor; 2nd District

This information is provided by the candidate
The El Toro re-use plan should be based on full disclosure and complete economic data, not the recommendation of a developer.
Orange County should be leading the fight to swap land to save the Bolsa Chica Mesa.
Orange County Government's practice of district prerogative is a recipe for waste.
County government needs to be out in the open. Meetings should be in the evening and televised.
Orange County should not be importing trash to our landfills.
El Toro Airport
The El Toro re-use plan should be based on full disclosure and complete economic data. It is premature to restrict alternatives to those which may benefit an elite few while imposing sever economic hardship on unsuspecting south Orange County residents.

Linear Park
After 20 years of promises to build a regional park in District 2, the County, under the guidance of Supervisor Silva, is reneging on Linear Park develpment and toxic clean-up.

Bolsa Chica
All of the Bolsa Chica could have been saved by now if the County of Orange had taken a leadership role in facilitating funding, transferred development rights or land exchanges. Does County government serve the people or special interests?

Land Fill
Dave Sullivan opposes importing trash to our landfills. Jim Silva voted to import trash from outside Orange County to our landfills.

Term Limits
Dave Sullivan supports term limits. Jim Silva voted against putting term limits on the ballot.

County Government
The County is emerging from bankruptcy, but the system of government that led us there is still in place. We must reform entrenched bureaucratic systems including district prerogative which surrenders important public issues to minority interests and undermines democratic principles.

Open Government
The Board of Supervisors' meetings should be in the evening and televised. Public oversight leads to more knowledgeable decisions and less waste in government.
