Political Philosophy for August Spivey

Candidate for County Supervisor; 5th District

This information is provided by the candidate

I believe in an open and inclusive government

The process of government should include everyone. The benefits of government should apply equally to everyone.

El Toro Airport

I favor the Millenium Plan. I am against any size airport being constructed in El Toro. I feel that there is a moral consideration involved in any land use. This land belonged to Native Americans. They should be considered and consulted as to its furture use.

Education

I feel that education and infrastructure are the most important issues in the county. If elected, I would ask the voters to approve an initiative for a five cent tax increase on alcohol and tabacco to be used to improve our schools and increase teacher salaries.

Bond Debt

I feel instead of 340 million dollars being spent on a feasibility study for a light rail system, we need to set aside funds and reduce the horrific two billion dollar bond debt in Orange County.
