Candidate for County Supervisor; 2nd District

This information is provided by the candidate
For the last four years, I have worked steadily for you, the constituents of the 2nd District. Sworn in one month after the bankruptcy was filed, I helped craft a recovery plan that DID NOT INCLUDE A TAX INCREASE. The taxpayers did not cause the bankruptcy and there was not reason to force you to open your wallet in order to solve it. A good recovery plan and the economic strength of this County led us back to financial health.

To ensure that such a debacle would never occur again, I established oversight committees for the County Treasurer and Audit/Controller. I worked diligently to assure that the County's reputation was repaired on Wall Street as evidenced by the re-establishment of an investment grade bond rating.

I fought to make early retirement of the bankruptcy a priority for the Board of Supervisors. That action will save the taxpayers of Orange County millions of dollars in interest payments.

If re-elected, I will continue to make public safety a top priority and support building a new County jail so that criminals will not be released for lack of bed space. I am proud of the many law enforcement endorsements that I have received including the Huntington Beach Police Officers Association, the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs and the California Coalition of Law Enforcement Associations, which represents over 100,000 California Peace Officers.

It has been an honor serving you for the last four years and I have worked hard to earn your trust. To continue to represent your interests in County government, I ask for your vote.
