Are you "pro" or "anti" public education?

By Elizabeth Dorn "Liz" Parker

Candidate for Member, County Board of Education; Trustee Area 5

This information is provided by the candidate
This race is about who will set public policy concerning public schools: those who support a strong public school system versus those who will remove dollars and programs to weaken public schools in Orange County.
I have a reputation for fighting for programs which provide all types of educational opporunities to children in our public schools. Unfortunately, those who do not support public schools (i.e. they support tax-dollars being given for private and home schooled education, they support refusing tax-payer dollars to support public schools, and they want to censor books and curriculum) hold a minority on this board.

One more vote and the county level school board will begin to refuse state and federal tax dollars going into classrooms throughout Orange County. One more vote and the Orange County School Board will elliminate most of the health education curriculum in classrooms. One more vote, and the county school board will use this office as a political "bully" pulpit to further partisan politics. One more vote, and the children in ours schools lose big time!

I have been a constant fighter to further the public schools in every way. I will continue to capture all dollars available to continue to improve our public schools. Nothing is perfect, but the schools are in much better shape than before I was originally elected.

To keep moving forward, and to ensure we do not use this office for political purposes, I will need your vote to get re-elected. I wish the majority did not sway in the balance, but it does. This election is about whether a majority of elected members support or oppose strong public schools -- I support strong public schools, my opponent does not.
