Official Ballot Statement

Steven W. Waldo	Age: 49
Occupation: Incumbent

Education and Qualifications:

I am a Brisbane husband, father, homeowner and sometime softball coach. Pat and
I have four children (Amanda, Lloyd, Rebecca and Hilary), all schooled at BES
and Lipman. We love Brisbane, and I have been honored to serve on the City
Council since August 1989, including two terms as mayor.

Why run for re-election?

Apart from a modest dose of dementia, I run because Brisbane is on a winning
streak and I still feel excited about helping to shape its future. Particularly
after years of reduced budgets and State-mandated cuts, with the improved
economy we have the chance to move forward and to continue the initiative with
programs and facilities that are slowly but steadily beginning to enhance our
town.

For example, Brisbane bought, remodeled and opened its own City Hall, at the
same time reducing our annual expense for City offices.

We acquired and closed the Tower bar and contracted with a non-profit developer
to design and construct 14 units of housing for Brisbane seniors. With guiding
input from our seniors, construction will begin this Spring.

The town purchased and opened the Teen Center. Under the Youth Advisory
Committee it is implementing both recreation and other youth activities,
hopefully to include a tutorial program facilitated by Terra Nova High School.

The Council supplemented the Library budget, making up -- with the help of FOBL
-- where the County chose to cut hours and services.

We've begun a serious rehabilitation of our long-neglected sewer system,
including video inspection of our sewer network and over 100 point repairs last
year. It's not glamorous work, but maintenance of our infrastructure is
crucial.

The City repaired the BES ball field; the community park is nearly complete,
focal point and all.

Next year we will begin replacement of the bridge over the railroad track,
including pedestrian and bicycle lanes.

Finally, the Council has committed the city to building a pool near Lipman
School, to accommodate adult swimmers, children's recreation and other
programs. Construction should begin this Spring, with completion in August.

These are not the achievements of any one Council member, or any one council.
But they are progress. I hope to continue to participate in this exciting
process, and I ask for your vote on November 4.

Please feel free to call with questions, at 467-4078.
