Official Ballot Statement

Michael H. Berg	Age: 40
Occupation: Customer Service/Buyer

Education and Qualifications:

I have lived in the Bay Area a majority of my life. I grew up and attended
school in San Carlos. I have been a resident of Belmont for 10 years. My three
children attend school in Belmont. I believe that I have the qualifications to
be a member of the City Council because of my background in customer service,
purchasing, and safety. I am a concerned citizen and a parent in Belmont.

I want to become more involved in the decision making policies of Belmont. Our
city is a wonderful place to live. I want to see Belmont grow towards the
twenty-first century but remain a family town. People work hard raising their
families here. I believe the city can and should help families by keeping our
city safe for the children. Everyone here in Belmont takes great pride in their
properties and should rightly do so. We need to maintain our safe schools,
responsive police and fire departments, and have a cooperative city government.
I believe there is a need for Belmont to open its doors to companies that cater
to families. We need businesses that will help build our community towards the
future but not damage our livelihood. Too many times, city government
overspends on projects without considering all of the options. My many years of
experience in purchasing gives me the edge in dealing with contractors and
vendors. My background in customer service allows me to understand that
everyone is important, deserves full cooperation, and most importantly everyone
has a voice. My experience as a safety coordinator enables me to comprehend
that people do not always see potential
dangers.

I want to be a voice for the people, allow the citizens to be their own voice,
and bring forth their concerns at City Council meetings. I want to make sure
that Belmont improves its flow of traffic throughout the city. I want to see
the children of this town grow up safely and remain here as adults to make
Belmont the home for their children.
