Official Ballot Statement

Jim Hartnett	Age: 47
Occupation: Mayor/Attorney

Education & Qualifications:

A safe, clean, high quality community is what we all want. I am proud of what
we have accomplished together the last three years:

Redoubled efforts to make our city look better;

More police on the streets, new efforts with the Sheriff's Department to fight
gangs and drugs;

The City Center Plaza and the attraction of the UC Extension downtown;

Starting paramedic service through our fire department;

Improved safety and services for Redwood Shores through a new fire station,
community center, and parks;

Focus on youth through cooperation with schools, Police Activities League
sports program, D.A.R.E., teen center, and more;

Sensitivity to neighborhood concerns in planning, such as voting against a high
density development on the former Petrini's site;

Fiscal responsibility, development of a positive business environment, and
three balanced budgets.

Raised in Redwood City, I attended local schools, my business is located
downtown, and my wife and I are raising our ten and twelve year-old sons here.
I have been honored to serve you these last three years. I am asking for your
vote. I want to continue my work with you, and for you, to make Redwood City
better for every resident.
