    My wife Etsuko, and my two sons, Josh (12) and Jake (10), live in the Redwood City house that I grew up in.

    My sons attend Roy Cloud School. I am a graduate of Mt. Carmel (1964), Sequoia High (1968) and Canada College (1970).

    Don Hartnett, my father, was a 30 year member and long-time Captain of the San Mateo County Sheriff's office in Redwood CIty. My family has over 100 years of law enforcement experience.

    Partner in the downtown Redwood City law firm of Smith, Bentley & Hartnett, an honors graduate of Santa Clara University Law School (1978), Sophia University, Tokyo (1975) and a veteran of the United States Navy (Active Duty, Naval Reserves Security Group 1970-72).

    Community and Youth Contributions: "Principal of the Day" at Roy Cloud and Orion Schools, speaker at Kennedy Middle School Honors Nights, and recognized as a "Friend of the Schools" by the Redwood City Elementary School Board of Education.

    Seminar Leader on Civic Involvement at the Hispanic Leadership Conference, and at Redwood City Leadership Programs.

    Speaker at "D.A.R.E." and Citizen Police Academy Graduations, Project Read "Trivia Bee" Fundraiser master of ceremonies and sponsor.

    Coach and sponsor of youth soccer, baseball and basketball teams (KC&H Law and SB&H Law). My family and I are members of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.
