Gary Yates	Age: 51
Occupation: Manager/City Councilmember

Education and Qualifications:

The City of San Mateo deserves a Councilmember who is responsive, accessible
and dedicated to representing you; its residents and taxpayers. I have worked
to provide that type of representation as City Councilmember and Mayor. In
addition, during my 30 years in San Mateo, I have served in leadership
positions in neighborhood organizations, served on 2 Council-appointed advisory
committees, presently serve at the County level on the Area Emergency Services
Council and on the SamTrans Public Forum.

Linda Stagnaro and I were married in 1967, and, after renting here for 5 years,
bought our first home in San Mateo in 1972. Our 3 children, Alicia, Jeff and
Dana, were educated in the local public school system, and I graduated from the
College of San Mateo in 1969 and the Notre Dame in 1976. I have worked at the
airport for 32 years having graduated from my apprenticeship in 1969. I have
held both union and management positions.

It is my belief that the City Council is elected to ensure that the City
prospers for the benefit of its citizens. With your support I will continue to
listen, to ask questions, to challenge when necessary, and to be responsive to
you.
