Retain Gary Harris on Belmont City Council

During my first four year term I have continuously worked in the public
interest:
	* As Belmont's primary spokesman negotiating a resolution to the Harbor
Industrial Area dispute
	* Enabling changes in our tree ordinances that entitles Belmont to be
designated a Tree City USA
	* Gaining Council concurrence for the Roads 2000 program that will bring
our streets and storm sewers to an acceptable level of repair
	* Instrumental in efforts to provide a stronger, more professional
management team within the City
	* Developing a strategic plan for the City that looks at our broader
objectives and what it takes to achieve them
	* Ensuring a balanced budget and operating the City so that our financial
reserves continue to increase

I have served on several Council subcommittees including Civic Facilities,
Areawide Traffic Improvement, Technology, and Legal Affairs. I am currently
Chairman of the Board of Directors for the South County Fire District.

As Mayor I have represented the City in several regional activities where
Belmont's interests are at stake.

As Director of Business Development for a major Japanese company I bring a
businessman's experience to the job of City government and with your vote I
will continue to do so.

My future objectives are for the City to complete several projects and
activities currently underway on time and within available financing,
including:
	* Ralston/Harbor/Holly grade separation
	* Roads 2000 program
	* Increased revenues through renewal and revitalization of our downtown
	* Enhanced recreational opportunities throughout the City

Belmont residents deserve a Council that works harmoniously toward objectives
that are in the best interests of the entire community. I have provided and
will continue to provide a centrist view to a Council that has been severely
divided on many issues and will work toward healing existing rifts between
Council members.

I humbly ask that you reelect me to the Belmont City Council so that I may
continue working to bring good government to Belmont and
continue striving to make Belmont the best place in the San Francisco area in
which to live, work and do business.

For the record, it is my full intention to adhere to the informal gentleman's
agreement that Council members serve only two terms on Council.

Reelect Gary Harris
to the Belmont City Council
as we move into the 21st century
/s/ Gary Harris
