"Catherine Bonnar for Belmont-Redwood Shores | School Board"
Catherine Bonnar

This information is provided by the candidate

The most immediate issue faced by the Board is to wisely budget the moneys raised by the successful bond issue to fully implement class size reduction throughout the district and to upgrade our aging facilities. I believe it is vital to involve parents and the community in the choices we will be making involving the bond money.

As the district faces the continuing challenges of rapid growth, I want to help ensure quality programs and to provide the best possible education to all of our children. I am committed to small class size; to strong science and math programs and to continued financial responsibility. I also believe the Board must strive to achieve a balance between technology and other programs, including those in the visual and performing arts.

I believe I can make a difference in reaching these goals. I support:

  • Wisely budgeting the moneys raised by the successful bond issue to fully implement class size reduction throughout the district, to upgrade our aging facilities and to meet the challenges of rapid growth.
  • Expanding Sandpiper School in Redwood Shores to a full K-5th Grade school.
  • Fully involving parents and the community in the choices we will be making involving the bond money. (How nice for a change to be talking about what to improve and enhance, rather than what to cut!)
  • The district’s continuing commitment to small class size.
  • Strong science and math programs.
  • Achieving a balance between technology and other programs, including those in the visual and performing arts.

As the school district faces the continuing challenges of rapid growth, I want to help ensure quality programs and to provide the best possible education to all of our children.
