Political Philosophy for Carroll Ann Hodges

This information is provided by the candidate

Our General Plan outlines the policies and goals that have shaped our Town's ambience, and provides excellent guidance for its future. The natural setting of Woodside, governed in part by its geological constraints, is its primary attraction, and as pressures for development increase (inevitably), great care and considerable wisdom will be required to ensure that the attributes that make Woodside so special are preserved and enhanced. Among the most significant are our open spaces that afford us privacy, opportunities to keep horses and other animals or to engage in agricultural pursuits, and proximity to wildlife -- all embodied in our self-characterization as "rural." A horseman and hiker, I particularly value our magnificent trail system. As Councilman, I would strive to accommodate the continued development of our community in accord with the policies and goals of our General Plan -- and the guidance of our citizens. Participatory democracy works only to the extent that all citizens participate, and it is my hope that all who cherish our community will participate in our collective efforts to preserve its special character -- for the next century.
