Having lived in Woodside 31 years (with horses, cats, and chickens), it has
been my privilege to serve on the Town's Conservation Committee, Geologic
Hazards Committee, Planning Commission, and most recently, Zoning Code Review
Committee. The natural setting of Woodside, governed in part by its geological
constraints, is its primary attraction, and as pressures for development
increase (inevitably), great care and considerable wisdom will be required to
ensure that the attributes that make Woodside so special are preserved and
enhanced. Among the most significant are our open spaces that afford us
privacy, opportunities to keep horses and other animals or to engage in
agricultural pursuits, and proximity to wildlife -- all embodied in our
self-characterization as "rural." A horseman and hiker, I particularly value
our magnificent trail system. As Councilman, I would strive to accommodate the
continued development of our community in accord with the policies and goals of
our General Plan -- and the guidance of our citizens.
